This Native American historical romance takes the reader on a journey farther back in history, to a time before Europeans drove the Nez Perce from their lands in the Pacific Northwest. Ms. Jager has managed to imbue this he book with a very different feel that rings true to the story.
The level of research and lyrical prose reminds me of husband-wife archeologist writing team Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear's books in The First North Americans series. The story and characters in SPIRIT OF THE WOLF are skillfully drawn and remain true to the cultural and historical setting. How the lovers overcome tremendous obstacles to find happiness together makes for a poignant story with many teary moments. Overall, an amazing read!
Never have I heard such a tale, since I was small child and an old Indian in Grants Pass talked to me of his tribe, of which he was the last. This is a story worth telling, and A MUST READ. YOU will not be able to put it down.
